Only those having declared their residence or owning real estate in Riga can use Riga resident’s cards
"Rīgas satiksme" started issuing Riga resident’s cards, which gave several privileges to Riga residents, late in 2013. Only those having declared their residence or owing a real estate in Riga are entitled to use Riga resident’s cards and enjoy its privileges, so "Rīgas satiksme" regularly checks client’s data and bans clients from using Riga resident’s cards if they do not meet the necessary criteria anymore. A similar practice has been used to control those who enjoy fare discounts, because card owners often do not inform that they do not meet the necessary criteria any longer.
A data check carried out in August showed that some Riga resident’s card holders are not declared (have no real estate) in Riga anymore and therefore are not entitled to use Riga resident’s cards and its priveleges. As a result, their cards have been blocked.
If a client’s card has been blocked, he/she can visit one of our customer service centre to solve the problem (the client must have a personal identity document and the Riga resident’s card with him/her). If the customer meets the criteria set for Riga resident’s card holders, the card will be restored. If the customer is not a Riga resident (does not own a real estate in Riga) anymore, he/she is not entitled to a Riga resident’s card and should use other types of e-tickets.
